Teddy Eddie Start

Who is this level for?

Teddy Eddie Start is a very carefully planned English course for two- and three-year-olds. Children don’t just learn their first words in a foreign language; our Teddy Eddie English for Toddlers is very much about immersion in a foreign language, so that learning it is as natural as possible for the child – the lessons consist mainly of language games.

Beginner

Teddy Eddie Start is the beginning of an English language adventure.

Communication benefits

Children very quickly accept that English is used to communicate and therefore the process of learning the language is not artificial for them.

Social benefits

Frequently asked questions

Do you have any questions about the Teddy Eddie Start level? Check if the answers are in the following section. If not, feel free to contact us.

Aren’t 2 to 3-year-old children too young to learn English?
They are not too young. A growing body of research confirms that an early start in learning a foreign language has a positive effect on a child’s linguistic potential, as well as on overall development, abstract thinking skills and creativity.
Does the parent need to be in the room during the lesson?
No, they don’t. At the start, a little learner may feel more confident with a parent or carer nearby, and be able to try something new. For this reason, during the first lessons we do not insist on the parent leaving a child who feels uncomfortable. After that, we suggest that the parent gradually withdraws from the room, as this has a beneficial effect on the child’s linguistic and social development.
What effects can I expect in such young children?
In Teddy Eddie Start groups, the priority is to build the child’s positive associations with a foreign language and to get him or her slowly fascinated by English. Before the time comes for concrete language results, we develop children’s skills in functioning in a peer group, establishing relationships and responding to commands and instructions, and gradually build the child’s non-verbal ability to respond to messages given in a foreign language.
Can my child be focused for the whole lesson?
Yes! The Teddy Eddie method is designed to meet the needs of little kids. During the course of the lessons, the teacher leads dynamic and static exercises alternately, so that our little learners have the opportunity to play with English both in a more dynamic form and in tasks that require more concentration.
Do lessons twice a week for such little children make sense?
Absolutely! Our experience shows that this frequency has positive social and linguistic effects. In addition, it allows a certain routine to be consolidated, and we all know that toddlers are very fond of repetitive activities. The twice-weekly lessons at the Teddy Eddie Start level also get the youngest learners used to the rhythm that is used in the later levels of our method.
